A 400mm blade usually makes 6" deep rip cuts.
And you are achieving this with a single phase (13A) motor?
That's very interesting. Are you using a new type of thin kerf blade?
 
dzj it makes 4.25 inch cut give or take so it could do 8.5 rip i wouldn't do the the full 4 in one pass mainly because of how hard i would have to push against the workpiece and the blade would be very exposed it only takes one slip.... i'd rather let the saw do the work in a few passes im not mass producing stuff so no rush

plus ripping so much in one pass could warp the blade and 16 inch blades are VERY expensive i got lucky and picked a freud up for 30 plus shipping (old stock) but most of them are £100 up for a decent one
