These embers are almost a year old and were re-ignited by a few sparks from a small grinder.

IIRC Ray Mears said that a burnt out overnight fire is trivial to re-light in the morning because of "some chemistry or other" in the embers.

I forget the chemistry :-(

Pretty easy to start a fire.
The business next door managed to start one in the middle of the night. Took my business premises as well.

Happened in 2005, 1 year to the day after we set up.

STUPID TW*T!!!!!, I still see him occasionally and I still greet him with the afore mentioned phrase.

That's a really horrible reminder Bob. I'm really glad that you managed to overcome that and build a successful business.

Let's all have a good look round our workshops, looking for hazards and removing them.
