Hi All

Can anyone tell me or point me in the direction of a saw website ?

I am trying to find out how many types / classifications there are on hand saws

thing like

How many TPI is a rip saw / crosscut saw / tenon saw / dovetail saw

I am trying to put together a SET of hand saws so , any advice welcome

Thanks

I don't think there is a straight forward answer to what you are looking for. For each type of saw there are many variations. These might help in a general way:

Article by Chris Schwarz on "The saws you need" http://blog.woodworking-magazine.com/bl ... +Need.aspx

Mike Wensloff's website (which is about to be updated) http://www.wenzloffandsons.com/index.htm

Mike's blog - doesn't answer your question but interesting anyway if you're into saws http://wenzloffandsons.com/wordpress/

Cheers

Chris Schwarz's rundown is probably the closest you'll get - but it's such a "It depends" question, and so influenced by personal preference, you might as well ask how long is a piece of string. :(
