GRIND STONES

Both my grindstones are past their sell by date, would like to know best stones to replace them with wood chisels being uppermost in mind especially wood turning. The choices are rather bewildering.

If you Are you looking to change the wheels, A grinder model and wheel size would be helpful,
I use a 60 grit and dress and keep the wheel shaped with one similar to those in the link below.
Thees are better at cleaning the grit and helps lessen the likelyhood of burning the tool steel, the diamond versions and carborundum stick do not do as good a job and make a lot of nasty dust!
Or are you looking for a new grinder?

Thanks once again to all, I can now peruse the recommended sites this evening, the machine I have takes 5" with 1/2 in bore approx. 40 year old but no problems, at this early stage I do not intend spending big money just the necessary.

Everything I was about to suggest has gone out the window now that I've seen 5". You will find that limits your scope.
