I'm in the process of changing a living room chimney breast and noticed that the old gas fire is only 60% efficient.
A flueless wall hanging fire ticks all the boxes until I start reading the mixed opinions to their use.
Anyone got an opinion or experience on these gas fires?

Personally I wouldn't fit one but that doesn't mean they are not safe if they are fitted to the manufacturers instructions. You do have to put an air vent to outside which really defeats the object of keeping the room warm to me, so people block this vent up to avoid the drafts, thus making the use of the fire a potential killer.

The advice from our plumber/gas fitter was to go for one with a flue.

The other type can only be used for background heating and work on a Catalytic conversion principle?
