Hi
My daughter has just had this fire door fitted by her builder between the garage and kitchen.
I am shocked by the workmanship, none of the hardware is rebated and I believe the frame was fitted with the seal rebates on the wrong side. It now has these additional strips.
I know that hinges should be on pads but surely should still be rebated?
Does this look like it will pass the building inspection to you guys even accepting the shoddy workmanship?
Thanks.

Good god thats really rough. maybe approaching some of the worstvworkmanship I've ever seen and that's saying something! they haven't even tried tbh.

In my view that's criminal, It will not pass any inspection, that all needs ripping out and doing again, not another Trusted trader or the likes off by any chance?
They have had a garage conversion done, fully insulated, roof raised and redone, floor dug up and re-layed to meet regulations. Until this point they have seemed ok. But it's been difficult to get them to fit the door as it's the last part of the job and they have already been paid...

That's a b l o o d y disgrace!🤬
If that passes inspection, as HOJ said, all hope is gone!

There is so much wrong/
It does not comply to any fire regulations.
Get them back in and re do it.

It may help your argument to get a Fire Specialist company in to do a report.

I have nor seen anything that bad in years.

That is the epitome of a rough job, definite rip it all out and start again, just shocking.

Absolutely disgusting and a complete waste of materials and money , simply put it’s not fit for purpose and the installer should be tarred and feathered and then flogged in public.. what a muppet ..🤮🤮🤮🤮

I would reinforce my earlier point it is "criminal" there are stringent rules and regs on fire door fitting, this may assist in clarifying those points:

It definitely won't pass Andy if the inspector does his job, might mean evidence gathering and a small court clain unfortunately as the work won't be signed off until it's replaced.
I've been retired a while but that wouldn't have got through 10 years ago never mind now and whoever did the job is a complete amateur and ar****le

Im just buying an external door frame to fit at home,,,your photos have been an inspiration,,I surly couldn't do any worse than that!
Im guessing that the door has been cut too small if it shuts with all the hardware “surface mounted”

Yes I've fitted all of the other internal doors but wasn't confident of the fire door regs...

Thanks HOJ, that's good information.
