MG77,

It took me about 2 weekends with the usual family interuptions but could be done in less with better prep.

Does it involve any metal work or lathe work? I have a table saw, band saw, thicknesser, mitre saw and drill press, but no lathe. Was there much expense involved? Sorry for all the questions, I have no problem giving MW my money for the plans, but I want to make sure I'll be able to complete it without having to buy a load more tools or super expensive parts!!

Sounds like a satisfying build though!

Hi,

have just sat stareing at my edgse/belt sander trying to recall what I had to buy vs what I had on hand.

I bought the following:
14mm shaft and a 10mm shaft
Bearings - a dozen because I had a use for those left over
Bicycle inner tube
T-nuts
I pulley ----I made the other pulley from birch ply---both could be from wood
Platen ---3mm steel plate
Motor 1hp from ebay
Dust collection attachment point

Non-woodworking tools used---angle grinder with metal cutting wheel

Timber ---Birch ply from scrap bin

As to overal costs of buying stuff in I'm afraid I don't recall. Possibly the most expensive was the motor which cost £28, the steel plate was £4 and earings were £1.30 each.

Watch the video, take notes, buy the plans

good luck Alan
