Axminster open their nice new shiny store in Warrington on Monday,

Phew, it's a long way from me so the saving are save for now (except from inflation, the tax man and bankers of course).

That's about 30 mins from me too. Damn good idea about the Ikea "incentive" by the way...!! Shame I might not get there for a while as I'm busy this week, and away for 2 weeks. Anyone fancy a quick writeup when they go? Let me know if it's worth the petrol!!

The close proximity of these two marital babysitters is marketing genius from Axminster...

There should be a planning law that you have to have a tool shop adjacent to any large shopping development.

I'm in Wrexham, so not far.

I tried to use the "Ikea incentive" in passing conversation with the missus yesterday, briefly mentioning there was a new tool shop opening nearby... She saw straight through it...!

I'm just glad I'm not henpecked and can go where I want when I want

Well I went today to have a look around, easy to find with a sat nav, just turn right before the bridge, not sign posted at all which is a shame, its opposite Screwfix.
For a new store opening there weren't many folks in there, still easier to move around, lots of touchy feely going on, makes a change to be able to mess with stuff without someone on your back trying to sell it to you,
LN had planes out so you could have a go, first time Iv seen them, ain't that 62 a nice item especially as it was just out of the box, cut sweet as a nut.
They had a few things the website said were out of stock and didn't have some things the site said were in stock, still it was first day so don't suppose their 100% just what they have atm.
Staff are all very nice and will leave you in piece if you just want to walk around.

Worth going ?

Oh Yes

Ouch! It's my own fault really... I signed up to getting a few jobs done at home before we go away next week, so I left myself open for "you said you'd do this and this before we go so they're first priority!" (hammer)

Thanks for the info Allan - I think you've convinced me to go over there when I get back from hols (and I'm going, no matter how hen-pecked I am  )

Fair enough, which reminds me, I must put the washing out and get those dishes cleaned (I'm not joking either)

What a nice shop. Nice sales people. It is just like Northumberland inside. Full of beauty and no tourists. Even my wife found something to buy. I got a few items and had a chat to the only salesman with a beard. Then he led me over to the mouthwatering display cabinet of Veritas and Lie-Nielson planes. Then short walk to a nice bench, a selection of boards and showed me the display rack of Lie-Nielson tools and a few Veritas planes lying around and said play away. The time flew past quickly as did the shavings. What nice tools, then they closed the shop at 5.30. Must go again! Screwfix is across the way as are a few more specialist shops. Well woth a visit. A large single story store with plenty on display.
