I want to sand down---with 3M wet and dry-- lacquer which is the top coat on a painted surface. Which 3M product do I use?---Silicon Carbide / Garnet?--other? I want to touch up the painted surface and re-lacquer.

I would have thought that the 3M silicon carbide wet and dry would be fine for your intended purpose . Wet and dry always used to be recommended for rubbing down gloss-paint.

I have noted recently that some wet and dry papers are in fact now made from aluminium oxide - just as some 'emery' papers and cloths, also are.
