    Osmo Poly-x or Danish

I have made a chest of drawers for bedroom, with a cherry main frame, side panels of oak veneered ply, and currently thinking of using some birds eye maple veneered mdf for the drawer fronts. I like danish oil which I have used in the past, but I read somewhere ( now cannot remember where or all...

    Circular Saw Blades

Hi,, I would like to read up on information about the various sorts of circular saw blades available . I have seen reference to ATB and other designations and I am unsure as to what this means, and how it affects usage etc.. Blade size for my usage is 250 or 254 mm, for table saw, sliding mitre...

Advice re chestnut foe external application

Thanks for the info guys..................particularly that last thread. I will do some "Googling" now ................if it seems the right way to go, I will have to wait a while, as prices for stuff like that is ridiculous here in France. Will purchase on a return trip to UK later in the year.

Advice re chestnut foe external application

Hi, I have made some new shutters for my house, from chestnut, which is supposedly the hard wood of choice for such things. Generally, the finish here in France, is a varnish ( or paint, which I do not want ). Having recently used Danish Oil on an interior project , which I saw was waterproof...

    What's the best epoxy?

I got some from EBay : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pacer-Technolog ... B00SXJJ4I4. I think Axminster or Rutland do the same as well,. It is clear and will take colour, although I have only used black dye. I have seen cheaper at www.shop4glue.com , lots of choice there, but the problem is making...

    Router Question

AES, thank you for taking the time to provide all that info...........I was guessing that would be the case. My current situation is that I had an old router, given to me years ago, a cheapo FERM make, together with a purpose made box with various bits............the bits are definitely 1/4 inch...

    Router Question

Blackrod, thanks again for the advice . I'll be more careful/specific in future. I have easy access to 8mm bits, through a friend, and so I've got an 8mm collet en route.

    Router Question

Paul 200, thanks for the concern. I've actually just checked the bits I have and they are 1/4 inch , 6.3 mm anyway as my micrometer is metric.

    Router Question

Paul 200, yes I think I certainly complicated matters. In relation to shank sizes and collets etc. ............the bits I already have were purchased in the UK about 10 years ago, in conjunction with a router as a package. The new router was purchased in UK, and the bits are a snug fit into the...

    Router Question

Actually mine is D26203 ................the 26200 is a fixed based unit only, the 26203 is the plunge router and the 26204K is the combination pack of both. This photo is off the Dewalt wbsite........clearly shows the collet size next to photo 8mm (1/4")....on the spec 6 - 8 mm collet...

    Router Question

Lots of replies: Yes it was a typo .............DeWalt D26204 router . The manual says it comes with an 8mm collet quote manual "8mm(GB 1/4") ".... It was purchased online from a tool firm on south coast of UK. Really what I'm asking is...........should this tool accept 8mm shank bits...

    Router Question

I recently purchased a Dewalt D6204 router, which I used for ther first time this morning, I borrowed a couple of bits from a friend, whilst I was at his house yesterday, with 8mm shanks, as I had read in the instruction manual that it had 8mm collet. This morning I find that my old bits fit...

    Table saw adjustment

Correct Steve, I can slacken 2 of them quite easily, the one on the photo and its partner to the left, the other 2 on the opposite end of the table are a little tricky to get to..............I'm thinking one should be sufficient to allow some gentle persuasion to move it the required...

    Table saw adjustment

Yes I am inclined to agree that the mounting of the blade assembly is onto the cast iron table. I think this is confirmed on the assembly instructions when you actually attach the table to the steel bax and legs. The blade does spin true amd the measurement does not change. I have had...
