    Wooden vice thread set

You can cut threads with a router that will chip and crumble less. They are available to cut up to 1 1/2". https://www.leevalley.com/en-ca/search#q=Beall%20wood%20threading%20kits&t=product-search-tab&sort=relevancy&layout=card&numberOfResults=25 When they first came out I offered to get one...

    Wooden vice thread set

Did a search for wood threading tools and found Amazon has a few. Maybe they ship to you. A search of asian selling sites might have the same at lower prices...

How to enthuse a 4 year old

I can't say why but when I read the thread title I wondered why anyone would want to soak a kid in herbs and flowers? Then I realized it didn't say infused. 🙄 My buddy gave each of his kids their own little tool box with a hammer, some screwdrivers, glue, pencils, tape measure and colouring...

Looking for an elegant joint solution

If the moisture content in the slab is close to other wood you have in the house then attach the legs to the top with mortices, tenons (cut with a tenon cutter in a drill/drill press or doweled. The small amount of movement the top may go through will be "absorbed" by the top of the legs...

    Makita Orbital sanders

If getting the jobs out of the way is paramount then send it back for a refund and drive to the nearest local seller and walk out of the store with it. I'm not sure how it is for you but there are over 20 sellers in Saskatoon (pop approx 300,000) according to Makita's website. Might cost more...

    Pergola Advice

From the end closest to the camera it looks like the beam was notched to take the rafters (?) reducing it to more of a 47 x 100 beam. I not an engineer but I doubt doubling the beam would work long term because of the notches unless you can fit a deeper board. Maybe cutting a pocket in the posts...

Help identifying small lathe with brass bed and carriage

I wonder if it was made of some spare parts by a home machinist. Maybe a kit? Pete

new member Introduction - Max Mancino from Italy

Welcome to the forum. Nice to see tools made that are functional and honest rather than fancy and pretty. Just so you know Dovetail is a she and not a Mr. ;) and probably got a chuckle out of it. Pete

    Makita Orbital sanders

"Vibration wakes …well it’s a 750 watt sander and after 90 mins use I had some tingling in my finger tips for 5 mins or so after use." If you have tingling in your hands during or after use you are damaging the nerves in your hands. The amount of time you can work before the tingling starts...

Planer thicknesser mobile cart 600 kilos

Another option are castors and separate floor locks. Step on them to raise the machine off the floor. Step or kick the release and they come back down to use the castors. Some can hold up a ton...

    The bucket list

In the early 80s my room mate bought a 26' fibreglass Folkboat off a couple that were going to sail around the world. They left Vancouver and got as far as Mexico before they had to come back. She got pregnant and three is a crowd. I had a great time sailing with him in and around the Gulf...

Best and least messy way to remove surface rust from tools

Track down this rust remover. https://www.leevalley.com/en-ca/shop/tools/workshop/tool-maintenance/66065-rust-remover-concentrate-and-gel It is made in the UK. I don't think watering down the Evaporust is a good idea but you can try. If it doesn't work you will have to do it again following...

Planer thicknesser mobile cart 600 kilos

If you have space to maneuver putting the planer on some square steel tube and using a pallet jack might be better. It allows you to use the pallet jack for other work. Pete
