Hi how my own box threading tool.
What materials do they contain and how do I cut the thread size and tpi that is wanted?

I need to cut wooden dowels with the thread of 1.1/4 x 8 tpi

I can buy a wood threading box that cuts with a 6 tpi but not 8tpi that I need.

Please could someone help with the right info so that I can set up a box threading tool to cutting the right size and Tpi.

If you require more info please let me know and the exact Nova thread size and setup please let me know.

Thanks and all the best.

Tim

A very good place to start is with Roy Underhill. He has studied the old methods and shows you what to do.

So read the article here: http://www.pbs.org/woodwrightsshop/project-guides/making-wooden-screws/

(and the related chapter of one of his books, "The Woodwright's Guide: Working Wood with Wedge & Edge" which gives you more illustrations.)

Then watch his video - http://www.pbs.org/woodwrightsshop/project-guides/making-wooden-screws/related-videos/

If that's not enough, there's this chap on YouTube who covers the same ground MUCH slower, at greater length https://www.youtube.com/user/MrCartersAccount

I can also remember that BugBear posted a good set of links in a previous answer, which I said at the time I had bookmarked, but I can't find it!
