Morning all, I picked up a tenon saw in good condition a Zelus No.95, made in Sheffield, Ive had a quick search and found chisels also with the zelus branding but can find no information on the company, anyone shed any light on this ?

The nearest (probably the only) thing to an authoritative book on saws is Simon Barley's 'British Sawmakers'


The penultimate entry there mentions that a 'Zelus' saw dating from about 1970 was listed on a web auction about 10 years ago. Nothing else is known about it.


Anyway, it's bit unique!

Yeah that book is on my want list, but a hefty investment for me. Think it might be a christmas wish list item got planemakers 4th edition last year. Shame there is not more known.
