The proportions look very attractive to me. Perhaps you've been using a bit of Fibonacci mathematics in you calculations ;) ?

Looks about right to me, will the sides be panelled or just flat? May be worth doing the top in solid timber for a bit of contrast , it will also mark less than a painted surface.

Blimey, sounds complicated. I just made each drawer 25mm higher than the one above.

Jason, Good idea, I hadn't thought of that. Cherry would match the planned bed. The side will be paneled to match the drawer fronts.
