I was ripping some PAR pine boards today when nearing the end of one board noticed something shining on the very end of the board, inline with the cut.

Stopping the table saw to investigate I found a heavy duty staple in the timber. Whilst it probably wouldn't have caused too much damage to the blade, you never know. Seems it was the remains of where a label had been stapled.

So folks, just because it's supplied planed straight and neat (hopefully !) from the suppliers, check the ends.

Sound advice a few months too late. Newly sharpened planer blades first board up and :x.

Thanks for the tip rookie.

Now what exactly is a PAR pine board?

Cheers

Tony

PAR = Planed All Round (note this doesn't mean planed straight or square)
PSE = Planed Square Edge (i.e. PAR but edges are square to face - again not necessarily straight though)
