yorkleen dust extractor

I am using a yorkleen dust extractor connected to my cyclone and noticed it a lot of air escaping from the top of the Yorkleen .My question should there be air escaping from the top of the Yorkleen for any reason ? Mock

Are you refering to the extractor exhaust/motor cooling air exiting from the edge of the motor shield/lid?

Yes from the motor shield lid around the edge .I have only just notice this ' And i thought it might be away of cooling the motor down but thought i would ask better safe than sorry Mock
