The Yew I got from the grounds of Helmsley Church North Yorkshire, they gave me quite a lot of it so I said I would make something they could place in the church, the tree was well over 200yrs old. Also a pic of my steady rest, it is the first time I have used it, it is excellent, the plans I got from a link off this site, it cost me less than £10 o make!!! :D

That's a splendid piece of workmanship well turned and beautiful finish =D> I commend you and what a great idea for a steady post

Lovely work and I like the rest too. Is it going to be useable what did you seal it with. Shame they chopped the tree down
 
Thanks for the comments, nice to hear feedback, being doing turning for just over a year, had no lessons just read things off the internet and tried it all out. Learning new things everyday
don't think it can be used, sealed it with Chestnut sanding sealer and finished it off with Chestnut friction polish.
feel very honoured that something that I have made will be in that church for years, decades, centuries!!!! lol
