workshop or training?!

Hi people.
i have had the great pleasure of been given a lathe/woodturner for xmas ( very exciting) i'm new to it even thou i've had interest in having a go for many years. would anyone know of any workshops that i could go to, to give me good start on my way to been able to make my first bowl
live kirkby so in the middle, could get to anywhere in notts or derby could even go up north sheffield etc

if anyone knows of somewhere or could point me in right direction that would be great
