Sorry to all those that may already know or have discovered this, but it made my day at least.
WorkSharp paper discs are crazy expensive, but superb quality, and release easily after week/months of use.
I tried some Norton very coarse sticky 6" discs with their own adhesive that were like 10p/each, just for initial profiling and reprofiling. They didn't have the hole but that was a 20 sec job. The only problem was that they were a total PITA to remove, and I was resorting to Acetone and Xylene. Not nice.
Then I thought ... I'll whack it in the microwave for 1 minute and see what happens. Damn thing came off with an easy pull in one whole piece. Well, aside from having to be careful how much you heat them (check carefully with your microwave, different powers, blah blah and don't forget your McSafety googles).
Total win.
But yeah, the original discs, superb. Don't want to go wasting them on the heavy grunt work though.
Anyway, anyone out there using Stumpy Nubs (YouTube) suggestions of MDF discs with abrasive compounds?
