Yet another question for the repairing of my "sun room".
I'm using 2x5" dry oak double header plates. However, the roof itself is c16 softwood 2x5".
What I'm wondering is, everything I've done re: calcs for span (for my posts and door etc) is based on those 2x5" oak header plates.
It's just occurred to me that the front face board to which the joists attach is surely going to also add strength. Is that right? If these joists are on hangers then is half/some/none of the load put into the front c16 as opposed to the headers below it?
Cheers.
