Workbench build

Spent some time over the last week building a workbench. It's based on Maguire's english workbench, but everything is oversized to suit the material at hand - 80*200 pine.
I also added a slit for a notched batten, to use as a planing stop.

So far one mistake I'm worried about is not leaving an expansion gap for the aprons. I'm hoping since the wood is on the wet side, it will rather shrink than expand. I guess no other way to know than wait and see.

Still need to restore and install a vice, drill holdfast holes etc.

I'm rather pleased with the heft of it. Feels nice and solid.

Looks well solid and well made.

Can't beat a good solid bench and that looks to be well in the solid range.
As to wood movement I think that design will handle it and as you say shrinkage will be the most likely. With the wood being a bit wet you may have to reflatten the top in a year or so but there is plenty thickness to play with if it comes to that.
