Hi everybody,

I said hello in the new members thread down below in Jan/Feb this year looking for thoughts on my proposal for a workbench. Time, as ever, was against me, so my finished bench, whilst fit for the job in hand, could certainly be improved, and will be, but just not now! The bench was finished in mid Feb, but now I’m deployed I have found the time to post some pictures for those who were interested back in Jan/Feb. The frame of the bench was made using some planed timber and the legs were from the packaging of an imported forklift mast. I thought they looked great, but in hindsight, whilst they were free, I had no way of properly squaring them up so they were perhaps more trouble than they were worth. The bench top was an oak kitchen worktop that I picked up on FB marketplace for a steal, the MFT insert I bought from CNC Design and the fence takes in (very) large part Peter Millward’s design as it’s inspiration. It too is not fully finished and will have to wait for the sliding front faces to be complete, again following Peter’s magnet idea. The bench was needed to make the parts for a set of fitted cupboards and shelves, which are in the main done, but not yet painted. Perhaps when I get back the painting fairy will have been round… As a newbie amateur to wood working I’m looking forward to future projects and am happy for all feedback. Ta! Rob
