Hey all

Anyone know of a cheap source for wooden dowel 3/4" or 1" soft or hardwood. Metal tubing would also be an option, but again looking for cheap options.

4 x lengths of 1.6m or thereabouts.

My mother is making a teepee for my sons first birthday on Tuesday and I'm looking for some options.

Many thanks!

I've used bamboo canes in the past for exactly the same job, stronger and cheaper than dowel. Also available in nice selection of diameter and lengths.

Cheers guys

Actually I work in a hardware shop (of sorts) and we have extra long handles in at the mo for snow shovels, but they are still to short.

The dowel we do is also too pricey even with staff discount!

I have some cains at home tucked behind the shed. Didn't even think of those as being strong enough, but they might just be. Some slightly thicker ones would be good. Know where I can get thicker ones?

I've only ever seen the thin ones I use in the garden.

Cherry Woodworkers, Denham, 01895 833859, or there is a guy in Ford near Aylesbury but I can't find his details.
