Hi guys.... is it possible to buy an all wooden door nowadays.? and i mean ALL wood... NOT a composite or veneered door....

My 87 yr old father is after a new back door, and would like to get a 'like-for-like' replacement if possible. I've looked all over, but all i can find are composite/veneered doors.

Andy.... that is one option i'm looking at actually

Nev.... we have a Howdens about 3/4 of a mile from us. Went in there the other day and inquired, and apart from its 'Trade Only', was told even their doors are all composite/engineered doors. BUT... they did tell me to try doorsofdistinction.co.uk ....... so i did. Rang 'em up, nope... ALL our doors are engineered/composite/veneered doors. But thanks anyway... =D>

To be honest theres a piece of 'rot' about the width of your index finger and maybe 10" long. So i'm gona suggest rather than the expense and effort of finding/fitting locks/hanging etc, just dig (chisel) out the offending wood, and make good. I'm sure he wont see the 'patch' once its painted.... (hammer)

it's definitely possible, but it's likely to have to be custom made/bespoke, it will add value to the property in my opinion if it's very well made to a high standard.
