? Wooden coaster finish

Hi can anyone offer advice on a decent finish for drinks coasters, there going to be made from oak, walnut, beech and maple cheers.

I used a coat of shellac sanding sealer and then 2 coats of Johnsons clear satin, once that had gone off I waxed them using fine wire wool.

I've used spray-on polyurethane with excellent results in the past - it's basically a layer of plastic around the wood, so pretty much completely waterproof. Not the most visually appealing finish, but far from the worst either.
