Hi chaps

I am going to the wood sale at St Joseph's tea room Abbey Grange, Oaks Road, Whitwick LE67 5UP, the place with the fantastic cakes. I am taking the wife, I know I am spoiling her but she is worth it. :D

They usually have a good selection of localy sourced timber.

Its on from 10:00 to 4:00 but the best stuff goes quickly, so I am planning to get their about 10:00.

Did I mention the cakes?

Hope to see you there.

Pete

Typical, I went to the last one a few weeks ago and you weren’t there to buy me a cake!
If you want anything specific, drop Mick an email (and probably a text) and if he has it, he will bring it along on the morning. I asked for some straight grain, thinish stock for drawer sides and he duly obliged.
Remember me to both Gwen and Mick, they know me as the “boxmaker”.

You might also want to pop into the Abbey shop just down the road?
Whilst they sell mainly books and religious artefacts, they also sell their own Trappist type beer that they brew on site. I can recommend if you like Belgian type beer.

You didn’t tell me you where going, I would have bought you a cake.

I will pop in the shop and have a look, the beer sound good.

I bought a nice piece of brown oak with a big knot in just right for a box lid.
A plank of oak and a chunk of Robinia which looks nice, 'kin hard stuff, I might make a pair of marking gauges from it.

We had tea/coffee and cake and it was very nice as usual.

Than we went to Staunton Harold and their is a chap there selling wood as well from a local sawmill https://www.simonpricefurniture.co.uk/

He is into HiFi and Photography just like me!
