Hi all.

I'm looking to harness the collective wisdom of the forum to ask if you can help me ID this wood. It was painted/stained previously, I found it in the store when I bought this house. The picture with some of the original finish in it made me think oak (it's heavy), but the clear section didn't look right to me, but what do I know, that's why I'm here!

And yes, I know my planer blades need sharpened. This was just to get the surface off to see what I had.

Thanks in advance
