windows 8 help

An elderly neighbour with W8 laptop cannot seem to use her Skype, we can communicate typing messages but her camera and sound system does not seem to work.

I am sure it has camera,sound so could someone please tell me how to navigate to her settings to get both those going on W8 please.

On my laptop there are buttons on the keyboard for the camera and microphone. Maybe they're turned off?

Thanks all and that Skype help look hopeful (where are the buttons by the way, w8, I have only seen once?)
