Does anybody have any experience of changing the bearings on the above machine ?

No, but having recently changed the bearings on an scm spindle, I was surprised the top bearing was about £250!
Due to the bearing being an angular contact matched pair.

The bottom bearing was a bog standard cheapie.

I changed bearings on a Lurem Maxi spindle and it was very easy and not expensive. Just the usual circlips etc.
It had a design fault - the bearings are top and bottom of the shaft in a tube but without seals on the insides. No dust could get in it's all sealed but the grease could gradually drop out of the top bearing and work its way to the bottom one. The top one failed, replaced with a bearing sealed both sides.

I cant imagine its too hard, I've done bearings on a Benelux moulder. Pretty substantial upper bearing and self allinging. Luckily it was metric size. Wilson being an older british machine the bearings might be imperial so could be pricey. If the bearing is anything like the wadkin EQ which is high speed/precision there big money

Thanks all, I got on with it yesterday afternoon in the end.

It was easy enough but sussing out how to remove a disc on the top of the slide was a bit of a pain.

The bearings were ok after a good soak, so I re greased and all is good.

The disc that had to come off to expose the retaining circlip has 4 holes drilled into its edge at quarters, I assume these are for some sort of spanner to remove it but one had a thread tapped in it and was plugged with lead.

Is the lead for balance?
