whittall plane

Hi all,

I have bought a block plane marked "whittall" on the toe. Can anyone give me a bit of history on the manufacturer?

Could "whittall" be a previous owner rather than the plane's maker? Could you post a photo?

Whittall is cast into the sole. I'll get a photo posted.

It looks very similar to a 70's Record block plane (scroll down the page). There were many copies of this style.
