Hi,

I'm about to tile my kitchen floor and I'm laying half inch ply to the current boarded floor prior to laying the tiles.

Any ideas on which type of screw would best for this task?

Hopefully ones that could countersink themselves?

I was thinking of a decking screw as they have a really sharp point and have quite a course thread?

Thanks

Personally I would nail it down. Any screw will do thats long enough. Maybe a 4 or 4.5x30 Even the toolstation cheapo single thread ones will counter themselves into ply. In fact I barely buy any other type of screw. A twin thread would be good for extra grip with a short screw.

Hi Phil
I use screwfix turbo gold screws 4 x 25mm or 30mm size max at 300mm centers. If you keep the screw length at slightly less than the ply & floorboards once countersunk you won't risk hitting any pipes or cables.

Thanks very much for the replies lads, much appreciated.
