As post title; I'm looking for reliable, reasonably priced suppliers of quality timber in small amounts, but somewhere in/near London. I need some teak or similar 2.5" section or similar long pieces, to make a gate. I also will need good quality pine in a range of sizes, and other hardwoods for various projects. I have got some bits from a reclaimed/salvage yard in east London, but supplies are sporadic, they're overpriced and it's not worth going in winter as the wood isn't stored against rain etc. So I'm looking for places where I can visit on a regular basis, and get nice stuff.

Any recommendations? Thanks.

You could try wests timber just off m25 not been myself but told its good would have thought there should be a good timber yard in the dartford area expect someone on hear will know

Near Dartford, The closest I would suggest is John Cannells, Horton Rd, Horton Kirby ( if there still there as not been for a long time) Bexley Hardwoods in Bexley Village, Slightly further afield into Kent Morgans of Strood http://www.morgantimber.co.uk/ or into town Blumsoms http://www.blumsomtimbercentre.com/ in River Rd Barking. You will find Teak very expensive alternatives for a similar look Iroko or Aframosa

Hi. Might not be near for you but maybe others looking could use Roberts timber. It's on the North Circular (a406). Near Edmonton. They have lots of sawn timbers and some PAR. I have always found them helpful.

Moss & Co in Hammersmith - http://www.mosstimber.co.uk - are a real old-timey timber yard. For Redwood and the odd bit of hardwood then my local yard, Fergusons - http://ajferguson.co.uk/contactus.php - are good.

London's a big old place though - did you want to narrow it down a bit??

Cheers Pete
I live in Suffolk but work in Osterley on occasion so call into moss timber for my american oak as they are 15mins away. Just be aware that they still shut for lunch (i think 1-2pm?) - just when its ideal for me to get to them!
