I had planned to make the eagle below from the Kathy Wise Intarsia Woodworking Projects book and was saying to my wife that it was quite a large project.

Went I told her how big it was she started laughing and said that's not big (I'm sure it was the eagle she was looking at  ).

So, ever the one for a challenge and following in my master's footsteps (see http://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/forums/giant-red-kite-intarsia-project-t97953.html) I plan to come up with my own design based on the Sea Eagle below.

As you may be able to see I have made a start on the pattern design. The final project will be around 46" wide by 33" tall.

If anyone is interested I can do a WIP and I will probably write the whole project up as either a single blog post of a series of posts on my website.

Regards

Phill

LOL that's the spirit Phill ! guess what..... that is the same sea eagle i made recently and chopped the pipper up after seeing it on the computer screen lol I used the same colour photo too
I have finish my latest sea eagle today so will post it later tonight, its a much easier pattern than the Kathy Wise one (mines a Judy Gale Roberts) and to tell ya the truth i am glad its finished so i can get on with my other projects (more kites/eagles/barn owl to come along with a horse)
For your large eagle I would use minimum of 12mm thick plywood backing board to keep it from flexing and also stop it from warping if placed near any heat source.
Can't wait to see it
Cheers
Brian

It's that talons. They're just magnificent aren't they?

I had toyed with looking for one holding a fish but I just loved the exposed and very dangerous looking talons on this photo.

Nearly done with the pattern now. All the paths are in place I think just need to tidy it up and start thinking about grain direction etc. then I'll be good to go.

Brian,

I meant to ask what did you mean about chopping it up after seeing it on the computer screen?
