Hi,
Maybe not the best description, but you know the stuff they make cheap wardrobes from, white melamine MDF. I'd like something similair, but better quality. 18-25mm thick.

1. Does anyone have a better description, or name.
2. Where can i get it.

It's for a desktop/ work area in a home office. I've seen stuff in B&Q, but the quality wasn't up to much.

thanks
Paul.

Hi Paul
The stuff that you are looking to name is MFC or melamine faced chipboard, you should be able to get MFMDF ie melamine faced mdf this will be better as a desk top, but if you want to do a proper job you should really use a laminate like fomica etc and stick that to any sheet material.

Sorry cant help with where to get it from.

You can probably get it from these guys http://www.nesp.co.uk or a similar company if you google MFC panels. Whether you can get small enough size (they do a cut to size service) at the right price is something else. I've had the Finsa black text from them which was nice but it was a full shhet around 2700 x 2070 x 18 mm an d that was some time ago.
I would have though there was someone local to you or at least in the Hull area. As it's 30 years since I lived there, I'm out of touch now.

Find your nearest Egger stockist who should be able to supply either MFMDF or Laminate (formica) covered MDF in a range of colours, woodgrains and textures. As its for a desk top that takes a lot more abuse than a carcase the laminate option would be best.
