The green and wetter end of the M4.
hi folks
had another go at refining the nevmobile and have come to the decision that the axles turning in a hole is giving too much lateral movement. if i make the hole smaller to take up the slack then the axles dont turn freely.
so decided today to try fixed axles with spinning wheels. probably the same amount of movement in this method but a lot less obvious and a whole lot more acceptable.
so i turn the axle say 15mm with reduction to 10mm on the ends for wheels to sit on. 10.5mm hole in wheels. super spinney :)
the question now ...
how to affix wheels securely? i have only two solutions so far...
1) tiny screw and 11mm washer in end of axle, or
2) turn small 'hub cap' and glue to end of axle.
i would like to try and keep it all wood if possible and make it as robust as possible so any suggestions for a simple spinney wheel on fixed axle setup?

for those that havent seen it and wondering what the hell i am on about...

I drill out the ends of the axles then make the hub caps with
a dowel end that will fit into the axle and glue in place.
