I have a carpet cleaner with a split hose (supply - the small one) . I can cut an inch off and reconnect it, but I'm going to need one of those small steel crimps. I have no idea what they are called. Help please!
(of course, if swmbo had done as she was asked and unclipped it when she put it away...)

If I were to say that out loud I'd be in the doghouse for a few days :D

You can buy stainless steel cable ties online which are very strong, used some on my trike wiring

Thin steel galvanized wire also works well: two turns round the pipe, wind it tight with mole grips or strong pliers and bend the snipped ends back so they don't catch. Don't use electrical snips to cut the wire though as the jaws often aren't hardened. A dab of washing up liquid on the two turns helps avoid pinching. Practice on something else like a piece of dowel first, and pre-shape the turns before slipping them over the pipe.
