What's new and New posts buttons

How do the above buttons work?
They bring up different lists of posts - what is the criteria for each, please.

New posts is stuff that is most recent that you haven't read and what's new is just a round up of the last 24hrs sorta thing, including stuff you've read

Droogs beat me to it.

If you click on the "What's new" link, the display will change to show the first ten threads that contain new posts as of that moment. At the bottom of the page, you will see a "View more..." button that will have up to the most recent 200 threads containing new posts from the same moment in time. This will include threads you have read.

If you click on the down arrow to the right of "What's new", the first option is "New posts". If you click on this, the display will change to show you all of the threads that contain new posts that you have not read.
