Hello,

Complete novice... I have just found a large stack of cladding which I aim to reuse. I have plained a piece up and I am unsure of the type of wood. I am led to believe it's cedar?

If it's pre-existing cladding you're planning to reuse it's likely to be larch which is quite durable for exterior locations and a common choice for cladding uses. Your images show a piece of a relatively low quality (knotty with what appear to be resin pockets, for example) material so, for me, larch is a reasonable guess. Slainte.

I'm also in the larch camp, it's very light coloured (almost pinkish) when freshly planed and then darkens in the sun to a very orangey colour over a week or so. Base board is newly planed vs cladding which was up a for a few weeks. This is many moons ago now and the whole thing is pretty silvered.
