hi,
im making a set of speakers for my a2 product design project,
i have already applied two coats of primer to part of the speaker but was unsure if i should i rub them down in between coats and the same for the paint layers or just for the paint layers.also how many coats of each would you suggest i apply?

thanks
Tom

Hi tom, welcome to the forum by the way  it common practice to denib/ rub down between everycoat. Some 400 or 320 sandpaper is usually fine enough (dont wanna be rubbing right through the paint :x ) how many coats of paint kinda depends what paint finish youre using.

For gloss I usually

Prime edges of mdf
Prime all the mdf (so edges done twice)
Undercoat
Gloss
Maybe another gloss depending how well its covered

Eggshell or satinwood

Prime edges of mdf
Prime all the mdf (so edges done twice)
Straight to satinwood or eggshell
Maybe another topcoat if it needs it

Coley

Well worth bying good quality rollers. Dont think of using the 'contarct' range. Money well spent on good ones. Like night and day especially if using gloss. . Best wishes.
