Hi All,

I've made a table top from pine which I have dyed and treated with danish oil. My hope was that the danish oil would provide enough protection and sheen but I'm finding after 5 coats the wood is still very dull.

Can anyone recommend the best way I can now get a sheen over the danish oil. I'm not sure whether to go for a poly, beeswax, shellac etc finish.

Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

I do not believe shellac will not take on top of danish oil, although I have put danish oil on top of a white french polished oak door that was finished 18 months prior.
I would give the oiled surface a wipe down with white spirit and then wax it.
