I am in the process of reroofing our old coal outbuilding. the roof dimensions are approx 5ft x 39" plus overhang needed. (more storage space :) :) )

wall plates on and it is attached to an outside rendered wall of my workshop.

going to lay some bitumous felt I have left over.

What is the board called to make the roof layer please?

OSB also known as Sterling board or Ply exterior grade of course. You will probably need a hand though 18mm sheet is heavy even for a young buck like you.

Thanks, I just could not recall the name.

I shall have a board delivered and at the same time some 2x1 battens, get the delivery man to lay the board on the battens and cut to size on the ground with my old circular saw. Should manage a 5x3ish board???????????

Depends on if you had your weetabix or not. All stuff gets heaviest at the point of no return thats also when it snags on a nail or yer strides start slipping.

Its coming Thursday, £12 plus the sheet special offer, Duchy Timber.

Yeh, the strides do slip these days when stretching.

Almost any old board will do but real wood is best. We have a huge chapel roof here with 1/2" x 7" redwood boards, tyvek membrane on top, slates nailed directly to boards with no battens.
