Lots of conflicting advice on the net and no real conclusion so I thought that I would ask on here.
Swmbo has stumped up for replacing all of our decking and guess who is having to do the job !.....;):) lucky me..
After removing and replacing the existing decking and digging out 30x rubble bags of mud in the process we now have a nice new shiny decking.
I can't wait to dine alfresco tonight .
What are the various options for applying some kind of finish to the decking ? maybe to preserve it and resist rot etc and the various drawbacks etc .. Erindoors quite likes he idea of a colour stain and we have been impressed with the Ronseal Ducksback range we have used on the shed and fencing.

Ducksback not really suitable on deck.
Cuprinol Anti Slip decking stain, available in clear and other shades.
Used it on a few decks and find it great and long lasting, just redo every couple years.

Note, if you have used pressure treated decking boards, the are normally quite damp when new, I wood give it 3 to 6 months to dry and weather, then do it.

Hunt around though, often on offer somewhere.
