I am struggling to find a definitive answer to this.
Some sites say up, others say down. This is a wet tile saw built like a table saw, not one where the saw runs on an overhead rail.

Face up. Couple of reasons, firstly like a table saw, the blade turns towards you, cutting into the face first. If face is down it'll get scratched by glaze splinters etc. Usually any freehand cuts will be marked on the face ( which is where it counts ) and you wont see that upside down 🤪

Face up. Those type of tile saws draw water up with the blades rotation, hence it splashes down onto face of tile. The glazed face is the toughest part of the tile, so you want the water to hit that face first, both to cool and lubricate as well as wash debris away from the cut.

If you go face down you likely to end up with chip out, as the water will sit on top of tile and you will basically be running dry through the glaze with a hot blade.
Also face down is more prone to damage due to the fine grit caused by the blade.on the table top.
