We're going to have a go at building a hollow surfboard this summer. Western red cedar seems to be very expensive to buy in board form but relatively cheap as boards for cladding. The cladding I've seen is too thick so will need thicknessing down to about 6mm which shouldn't be too hard, but I'm wondering if cladding is exactly the same thing I'd get if I bought boards (which would mean resawing and planing), or if it's likely to be inferior quality/ unsuitable for any reason? Cladding seems the cheaper and easier option but I don't want to order and discover otherwise.
Thanks for any thoughts, C.

I can’t answer your question, but this sounds like a great project (I don’t very much nowadays but still regard myself as a surfer). Please keep us posted on progress with pictures!

I hope someone comes along with an answer for you.
