Hi all,
I have recently returned from a splendid holiday in the the Charente, France. In spite of a couple of days of rain I/we did manage to get around a bit and came across this timber yard. I had heard of timber being watered, to remove sap before drying or to slow down the drying process, but this is the first time I had seen it in action. Images posted here for those interested. There was no-one around to speak to, not that I could have, but the timber seemed to be destined to be cut down to barrel stave sized pieces.
Either Google Maps or Bing Maps will show arial images, just search for:-
Les Salles-Lavauguyon, Haute-Vienne, Limousin, France
The yard can clearly be seen on the D34 about 2 o'clock from the village center.
I can supply larger format images if anyone is interested, just pm me your email address.
