Hello All,

Anyone had any improvement with spraying water based lacquers recently?

The last time I tried some for a review, although I found it easy to get a good finish I couldn't help breaking through coats, leaving the fine white markings of the sanding as it got between the coats.

I read an article when I was last in the US that mentioned the critical timing between applying coats could eliminate the problem.

Regards....Mike

Mike,

Timing is everything and I guess the window depends on the formulation. I have used Bolloms in the past and mostly it has worked well for me with the occasional snafu usually caused by leaving too long between coats. I have also learnt not to spray in cold conditions, even when it seems to dry OK. I now insist on at least 18 degrees and this is a bore as without heating my garage doesn't get up to this except in summer and I have given up spraying in the workshop as it is just too messy.

I would like to try Barfords Aquacote as this gets a good press
