Hi, ive made an oak wall box for a customer, they wanted darkish red stain, so i bought a tin of coloron deep mahogany ( its water based )
I was careful applying it trying to keep it even and was happy with it. I then went over it last night with sadolin waterbased satin polyurethane.

This morning when i took it out to the truck i noticed a mark where i dipped the brush in the sadolin and applied a bit on the top of the box ( which was stood upright ) to remove excess while i spent maybe 10 seconds finishing the last corner. I then carried on and finished the top.

You can see where the outline of the poly was and the start of a run.

Aghhh!!! Any ideas? I was hoping not to have to sand it back and restain, it too 3 coats to get to this colour.

As you cant probably guess, i dont do staining very often!

I got brave and sanded the area back gently, denibbing the poly on the whole box too, just applied a very careful splodge of stain, then will go over with poly again a couple of times making sure i dont hang about!
