Be careful how much info you give away over the phone or online.


This afternoon I received a call on my mobile from a guy claiming to be from E.ON, asking whether anyone was home so that he could read the meter. We were all out at that time, but not wanting to tell him so without knowing who he was first, I ended the call. Then it occurred to me that E.ON is not our electricity supplier, and so he must have been finding out if the house was empty to break in.

I was too far away from home so called the Police, who sent round a car immediately but they didn't see anything. When I arrived a while later nothing has been tampered with or stolen.

I searched for the mobile number he called me with in Google and found four results: three Gumtree adverts in Merseyside, and another ad placed on the Liverpool Classifieds website. All give the same phone number and the name Scott.


How did someone have my mobile number and address?

Is there anything I can do now that I've got his number?

Some crafty little fockers tricked their way into my dad's house recently. Said they wanted to look at his boiler. A neighbor told us that one went in another waited outside and then went in quickly after. Turns out his wallet has gone missing. All the following week a woman kept ringing him asking him to renew his heating insurance, which he doesn't have. Obviously it's these gits trying to get his pin number. Thieving scum !!

And phone him up using a blocked number, and ask if anybodys in because you want to clean his clock.

I suspect whomever used the phone or sim to call you is not the same person who placed the ads. I suspect your scrote is using a stolen phone
