I'm wanting to put some LED strip lighting inside a bedroom wardrobe and run them off a plug as an appliance. The purpose would be to illuminate the contents on opening the doors. To keep it simple I'm thinking PIR sensors as opposed to Push-to-Break switches as there are double doors per cabinet.

Does anyone have any experience with wardrobe lighting, in particular PIRs?. Recommendations to LED set ups or links to 'How to's' would be very much appreciated.

Cheers,

Jim

I can't think of anything simpler than door switches. PIR type switch means power consumed on a continuous basis just in case a door gets opened - waste of energy.
At current prices each watt consumed costs about £1.20 per year.

Thanks MYFORDMAN, that's quite an interesting £ stat.

I still may go the switch option. Regarding switches, as my doors are hung off butt hinges (as opposed to self closers/ Euro hinges) on a face frame, it could be neat if the door catch was the push-to-break switch. Does such a thing exist?

Cheers Jim
