just send me your bank details and £5000 to help set the transfer up and i'll transfer it from the sultan of xyzs private fund

Ever received one of these (yes you all have   ) Gullible enough to send money and bank details?

No one is? right?

Well, it seems that some people do not have the sense to see that these are a con.

On the news on the radio I heard a report of a police 'bust' that found details of 300 british people who had sent money to one of these crooks. Apparently, one 74 year old woman had paid £200,000 to them

These crooks make me fume - they take advantage of the old and desperate

old, desperate and incredibly stupid.

My mother got a phone call last week:
"Hello you've won a holiday, just pay €50 deposit with your credit card"

Don't forget dishonest. The pretences are nearly always very clearly illegal schemes, as this inhibits victims from reporting them when they realise they've been scammed.

 I wouldn't describe a 74 year old woman who paid £200,000 as desperate.

Greedy, perhaps, and certainly stupid - but not desperate!

Cheers,

Trev.
